Brought to us by the director of Enchanted and Tarzan, this film hits all the right moments. So with random stops, lying and family quarreling, a high adventure 90s classic is made. But his dad, Goofy, takes Max on a cross-country fishing trip to bond with each other. ![]() It's the end of the school year and he asks his crush Roxanne to go to a special event with him a live telecast of a Powerline concert. It's the same Goof Troop universe, but Max is now a teenager. They wanted Goofy to speak normally, without his regular southern voice and almost considered STEVE MARTIN to replace Bill Farmer! But more pieces fell together and what we got became a cult-classic. There were a lot of executive meddling by Katzenberg with some concepts. They originally wanted it to be a full hour Goof Troop special. Anyway, the stuff I've heard about this movie is really interesting. Aside from the fatherly aspect I mentioned, I feel this movie is the best to watch in the middle of June that's when Father's Day usually is and the first act has a "School's out! Summer's here!" aspect which seems appropriate (most schools wrap up in the middle of June). I remembered everything about it, even the trailers! The Gargoyles trailer that scared me, a Disney Interactive Sega Genesis game, a Parachute Express music video! So much of it was as memorable as the actual movie. And there's no better representation to find Goofy's fatherly-ness than the 2 films he starred in: A Goofy Movie which was released in theaters and An Extremely Goofy Movie which was direct-to-video.Ī Goofy Movie is another of the first Disney movies I remember seeing and I watched it a lot. (BTW, sorry I didn't have a subject for Mothers' Day, but most Disney mothers are dead more than the fathers are and you you really think Mars Needs Moms would be a bright representation? Yeah, me neither.) There's a lot of Disney dads out there, but there's one quintessential pop who sticks out to us 90s babes: Goofy. Happy Fathers' Day to all daddys and papas everywhere.
